Former Disney Channel star Christy Carlson Romano, best known for her role in “Even Stevens,” recently experienced a harrowing incident during a clay pigeon shooting outing in Texas. While celebrating her husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday on February 7, 2025, Romano was accidentally shot in the face by a stray bullet from another party at the range.
In a candid Instagram video, Romano detailed the event, revealing that she was struck in five places, with one fragment narrowly missing her right eye. A fragment remains lodged behind her eye, which doctors have deemed too risky to remove surgically at this time. Despite the severity of her injuries, Romano expressed immense gratitude for her survival and the prompt actions of first responders and medical staff at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center.
Reflecting on the incident, Romano emphasized the importance of cherishing loved ones, stating, “I saw my life flash before my eyes and I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant.”
Her husband, Brendan Rooney, praised her resilience, commenting, “You are the bravest, toughest, most stoic and badass woman I have ever met. I am so thankful you are alive.”
